What is the PYP Exhibition?
In the final year of the Primary Years Program, students are expected to take part in a special celebration which marks their journey through the PYP. This event will stretch over several months and will include an exhibition of their work and their actions.
The PYP exhibition will feature the collective, collaborative energies and talents of all students in Grade 5 and will be shared with the Westwood community.

What are the guidelines for this project?
In this event students will:
- Co-operate in a team
- Investigate an issue that their team decides is important
- Develop a list of questions to guide their inquiry
- Use the knowledge and skills that they have acquired through their PYP experience
- Plan their investigations
- Collect and organize information from a variety of sources
- Think carefully about what they have learned and consider how they could take action
- Present their data creatively and clearly
- Reflect on their achievements
Who will help with this project?
Many people have been involved in your child's education at Westwood. Many teachers will be helping your child with the exhibition process, especially if their project involves an area of a teacher's expertise (e.g. music, information technology, art or PE). Your child will also receive help from the classroom teacher, and other teachers in the building that have volunteered to mentor them throughout the process. We also welcome any help you can provide at home.
How will your child be assessed?
Your children will assessed by their own contributions, their group and how well they met the PYP goals. The classroom teacher will also be assessing them based on their daily process, research, action plan and presentation through the Transdisciplinary Skills and Learner Profile Assessment. They will also complete a weekly self assessment and an exhibition assessment at the end of the project.
This is their BIG opportunity to show their skills as a learner, to consider issues that are important to them, to communicate their opinions and to make a positive difference.
